Notice of Public Hearing

Pursuant to NCGS 143-129(a) and (g) and NCGS 160A-20, the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Emerald Isle will conduct a public hearing at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the Emerald Isle Community Center to receive comments on the proposed purchase of a new fire truck and the financing of the purchase price through a proposed installment financing agreement. The Board will consider the purchase of the new fire truck using the “piggyback” method as allowed under NCGS 143-129 (g)(2) and (3) in an amount not to exceed $450,000.  The fire truck is available from vendor E-One as a result of the formal bid process by the City of Montgomery, Alabama in November, 2007.  The fire truck is available at a bid price of approximately $418,390 and the Board is considering a waiver of the formal bid procedure in order to contract with the qualified supplier.

The Board will further hold a public hearing on the financing of the purchase through the installment financing method based upon the lowest acceptable bid received from one or more banks or financial institutions over a period of five (5) years.  The public is invited to attend and comment.

Pursuant to NCGS 106A-20(g), the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Emerald Isle will conduct public hearings at 6:00 PM on July 8, 2008, at the Emerald Isle Community Center to receive comments on a proposed installment financing agreement.  Following the public hearings, the Board of Commissioners will consider 1) requesting approval from the North Carolina Local Government Commission for the proposed installment financing agreement, and 2) entering into an installment financing agreement to finance an amount up to $900,000 for the construction of the new Town Hall Administration Building and other improvements to Town buildings.
