Unfortunately, sections of the Emerald Isle beach strand will be temporarily closed to beach driving.
We ask that our beach drivers plan-ahead and avoid the closed areas.
Immediate Closure (effective Sept. 19, 2023)
Due to recent wave activity from Tropical Storm Franklin and Hurricane Idalia, a section of the Emerald Isle beach strand has experienced heavy erosion.
For the safety of all beach goers and beach drivers, the section of beach between the Doe Ramp and the Randy’s Way Public Access walkway will be closed to vehicles.
This area will remain closed, until conditions improve enough to allow for the safe travel of vehicles.
Temporary Closures
A temporary closure of beach strand area will occur between the (western side) of Bogue Inlet Pier and the Doe Ramp.
This area of beach will be closed on two specific dates for special events occurring at the Western Ocean Regional Access area.
