Well Site Development at McLean-Spell Park Set to Begin
Work is set to begin on the Bogue Banks Water Corporation well site in McLean-Spell Park on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.
The project was approved by the Emerald Isle Board of Commissioners in July 2021, and will place a new well to support infrastructure needs within the town.
The initial work will include removing only the trees necessary to get the well drilling rig to the test well site, the trees near the path around this location and temporarily removing the berm, according to Bogue Banks Water Corporation (BBWC). A temporary chain will be placed across the entrance to keep any vehicles from entering. The well contractor is expected to begin work on Tuesday, October 11, which is subject to change. The work will take place in the northwestern corner of the property.
The BBWC will replace each tree removed with two local species of trees. In addition, once the project is completed, the earthen berm off Sound Drive will be replaced, per the lease agreement.
