The Town of Emerald Isle will invest its local allocation of Powell Bill funds to resurface a section of Coast Guard Road and Sound Drive.

After competitively seeking estimates, Onslow Grading and Paving was awarded the asphalt resurfacing contract.
Emerald Isle requested that asphalt resurfacing be performed before the start of the 2023 peak tourist season.
- To assist Emerald Isle residents, Onslow Grading and Paving prioritized repairs on Coast Guard Road.
- Onslow Grading and Paving has an immediate opening in their schedule.
PAVING SCHEDULE
On Friday, March 31, 2023, crews will mill/grind sections of Coast Guard Road.
-Work is expected to begin at 8:00 AM and Police Officers will be present to assist with traffic control.
On Saturday, April 1, 2023, crews will pave sections of Coast Guard Road.
-Work is expected to begin at 8:00 AM and Police Officers will be present to assist with traffic control.
NOTE: Roadway striping will take place a minimum of 30-days after the newly installed asphalt can cure.
NOTE: Additional repairs on Sound Drive will be scheduled as soon as the contractor is available.
The Town of Emerald Isle understands that traffic will be heavy along Coast Guard Road on Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately, these dates provide the first available opportunity for work to be complete before the season starts. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience.
Please plan accordingly and anticipate minor delays along Coast Guard Road on Friday (March 31) and Saturday (April 1).
