Construction Update: Temporary Closure of Lee Avenue for Storm Preparedness

Tropical Storm Idalia is expected to bring heavy rain to the local area on Wednesday and/or Thursday of this week.  

On Tuesday, August 29, 2023, Lee Avenue will be closed to through traffic.  Contractors will mitigate potential flooding risks and ensure the safety of the road. 

The Town of Emerald Isle has worked closely with the Division of Coastal Management on this project.  CAMA authorization was secured to install rip rap stone at the Lee Avenue culvert, further protecting the roadway and Archers Creek.  

We apologize for the short notice and any inconvenience this may cause travelers. 

The Town will work to keep the public informed as soon as Lee Avenue is reopened.
