Emerald Isle Residents and Visitors,
Bogue Banks Water Corporation will be installing a 12-inch water line along portions of Reed Drive and Coast Guard Road from February 9 through February 13. Portions of Reed Drive will be closed to traffic from February 9–11, and access to Queens Court will be provided from the east via Islander Drive. Coast Guard Road may be reduced to one lane with flagged traffic between Deer Horn Drive/Osprey Ridge Drive and Reed Drive on February 12–13. The bike path along Coast Guard Road will be closed to pedestrian and bicycle use during active construction, anticipated on February 12–13, as the paved surface will be removed and temporarily replaced with gravel. During this time, pedestrians and bicyclists will be required to use Coast Guard Road and are advised to exercise caution due to uneven surfaces.
These timelines are estimates and subject to change. The bike path is expected to reopen by Saturday, February 14, with a temporary gravel surface, and final paving will occur as soon as possible. Bogue Banks Water Corporation appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this project.
